Not all cities are blessed with rivers wide enough for large ships - but it is sometimes possible to create what nature neglected to do. These gigantic structures allow for cheap bulk trade between two landlocked cities that aren't located on the same river, and thus are very popular with cities seeking to improve their commerce.
