Yesterday I received an account for Google Wave, and I promptly created a Wave for Urbis. It should be public, which means anyone can join.

Oh, and if you don't have a Google Wave account yet: I have some invites left over. So send me a private message with your email address, and I will send you one.

Forum category: General / General Discussion
Forum thread: Urbis on Google Wave

I'll look, but the rest of the summer is pretty busy for me also, so we may just put it off until later. :) We're building a huge structure for Burning Man, I have several huge shows at work, and all the "normal" busy/crazy stuff that goes on. I'll start with hags though. I like the idea of getting back to the lore that inspired the original D&D.

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: Sarah, the Ferry Lady

I think making hags a race of Faerie would be the best fit. I'll need to research their appearance in various myths, legends, and folklore so that I can come up with something appropriate for Urbis.

I don't know how much time I will have this month - my thesis defense is coming up on the 27th - but I should be able to find something useful after that.

But if you find any good references on hags, please feel free to share them here…

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: Sarah, the Ferry Lady

As I am trying to move Urbis away to a more system-less description, "green hag" is probably too D&D-centric. However, "hags" themselves have lots of associations in Faerie lore, and making them some kind of faerie would probably be appropriate. I'll have to think about this…

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: Sarah, the Ferry Lady

Don't forget the ancient history of the place - who knows what might be hidden in the depths of the place?

Over here in Europe, ancient locations - castles and the like - are often refurbished as conference centers and similar meeting places, so I figured the people of Urbis might do the same with their ancient sites. All of this gives a nice mixture of history and modernity which is evident all over Europe - and which also fits in with some of the central themes of Urbis, namely that the setting "grew out of" a classical fantasy world without losing contact with its roots entirely.

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: High Castle

I like how you combine "place for high profile secret meetings" to "prestige target for burglary" in the same site. It makes for a lot of potential for plot twists, and I can come up with several interesting plots that could take place here just from reading the article.

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: High Castle

Welcome to the site!

I decided to make the wiki system-independent because I'm not sure what the D&D 4E licenses will allow and what not - you need to be a lawyer to untangle this mess, and I'm not a lawyer. If it was just a fan site, there probably wouldn't be any problems - but I do plan to publish Urbis professionally later on.

But apart from these name changes, it will still be wedded to the assumptions of D&D 4E - so it shouldn't be much of a problem using the site.

Forum category: General / General Discussion
Forum thread: Lurking
