Fishermen's Square
rating: 0+x

Fishermen's Square is the traditional location of the main fish market of Dartmouth. It is also noteworthy for its tradition of public speaking - there are usually several large boxes in a part of the square on which anyone may climb and talk at the top of the lungs on whatever subject they want (and as they need to be audible over the cries of the fishmongers, they tend to be very loud indeed). As many of the speakers are incoherent and sometimes downright deranged, they provide quite a spectacle, and the more interesting speakers tend to draw quite a crowd. The less interesting ones are traditionally pelted with fishes, and some of the fishmongers sell some particularly old and smelly ones expressly for this purpose.
