In earlier times, when Bodenwald was much smaller than it is today, the Krähenviertel was the home of its wealthiest citizens - guild masters, city councilors, money lenders and similar people. Now the rich and respectable have moved elsewhere, and the whole area has become somewhat dingy. Numerous rich people still live here, but they are not quite the respectable kind - crime bosses, adventurers, and other people who have acquired their wealth via frequently dubious means. Several newspapers and other publishers are also headquartered here.

The district takes its name from the numerous flocks of crows that have lived here for centuries. They seem to be always watching, although nobody has ever discovered proof of a controlling intelligence behind these birds - which does not stop the proliferation of all sorts of rumors and tall tales about them.
