Pechersdorf was named for its long-running resin-gathering industry. Urban expansion has forced the closure of several plantations, and the reminder have turned to experts from Grüngarten to increase the resin production of the remaining trees. The rather experimental treatments of these experts (who were fairly controversial in their home city) have increased resin production so much that the trees are now called the "weeping trees" by the locals. However, this came at a cost to their health, and they now require extensive care to survive.

Also of note is the newly built main train station of Bodenwald, as well as the famous Wiesenfest - the biggest beer festival in the world.
