The Hills That Walk
rating: 0+x

In one region of the Veldtland, the never-ending grass plains are dotted with numerous elongated hills, ranging in size from 20 to 400 yards. And each spring, some of these hills wake up - they stretch and stand up as humanoid-shaped colossi made out of earth. They then walk, searching for a new place to lie down, using unknown criteria and not heeding what they might crush under their feet. Finally, once they have found what they were searching for, they transform back into hills, and a layer of grass rapidly grows on them which makes them indistinguishable from the rest of the countryside.

The local tribes, which are nomadic for understandable reasons, revere the walking hills and believe that by tracing their footpaths it is possible to divine the future, and that by walking in them it is possible to reach other worlds of existence.
